I had the great pleasure of working for Hello magazine with our guest and friend Louise Redknapp.

The session was at a studio in Old Street, Louise was interviewed about her current starring role on Strictly Come dancing, her family & life in general.

The day started around 8am with me setting up my work area with the equipment & hair products that I had prepped the night before.

For sessions I believe you can never be over prepped, I check my brief/story so I know the plan, this make me have the correct tools for the photo session.

Preparation is key to success in everything we do especially when working on shoots.

I discussed with Nicky the make up artist about the looks for the day and with the editors of Hello Magazine to be sure we were all on the same brief.
9AM – Louise arrived for hair prep, make up and to try the clothes on for the shoot.

Tom Smith our Colour director at Billi Currie created a rich & natural bronde before the photo session day using cleverly placed lighter pieces to replicate the natural effects of the sun.
My job as the hair stylist for the day was to add to this with a diffusion of textures showing off Louise’s loose tussled layering hair cut.
I prepped Louise’s hair with Oribe Moisturising cream, then blow-dried the hair to give shine & finish.

Nicky then did his magic with makeup, keeping Louise looking natural & healthy. Make up & hair should always compliment each other, Team communication is crucial on a shoot and when working in a Salon.

Once the hair was b\dried I the applied Oribe dry to give texture & a beachy effect.

A styling wand was used to add undone loose movement.

We were then ready for camera we went on to set, checked the hair & make up under the lighting, Louise did her thing, she works fantastic to camera.

Through out the day there were about 8 to 10 changes of outfits, lots of discussions and details with the clothes stylist Emma, there were different areas through out the studio used to take the images.

My role as the hairdresser is to make sure the magazine & Louise are happy with the hair direction.

I love working on sessions with a great team like this one, I work with Nicky the makeup artist on lots of sessions the days are often long & lots of fun.

The shoot is now out in Hello Magazine, I am happy that Louise & Hello magazine love the results!
